Community Care Assistant (Live-in)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £26,700.00 per year

A live-in carer if required to care for a lovely lady who has had a stroke, affecting her right side and her husband who has stage 4 cancer. Accommodation is included in this role.


Key Responsibilities:


Personal Care and Mobility Support:

  • Assist clients with their mobility, including support with a walking frame during the day and providing wheelchair assistance in the morning and evening when more tired.

  • Assist the clients with personal care tasks, including showering, washing, and dressing, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times.

  • Provide assistance with other activities of daily living to ensure the clients maintain independence and quality of life.

  • Light massage to lower legs, feet and hands


Meal Preparation and Support:

  • Prepare balanced, nutritious meals and drinks for both the clients, catering to any dietary preferences or restrictions.

  • Able to do shopping for food according to dietary requirements and keep account of things online shopping;

  • Assist with feeding if necessary, ensuring that meals are provided at appropriate times and in line with their individual needs.


General Housekeeping Support:

  • Assist with light household duties, including cleaning up after meals and ensuring that the client’s living space remains tidy and safe. 

  • Ensure the client’s environment is safe, checking for potential hazards and reporting any concerns to the management team.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain clear and accurate records of the client’s care, noting any changes in her condition, mobility, or emotional well-being.

  • Communicate effectively with other team members and healthcare professionals, ensuring that all care needs are met.

  • Able to understand the medicinal requirements and report the same to GP and family


Preferred:


Experience: Previous experience as a care work, especially with stroke survivors and palliative care and those with mobility issues, is highly desirable.


Professional Qualification: Graduate degree (masters) preferably in health sciences; Nursing or Massage Therapy qualification.


Personal Qualities: Compassionate, reliable, and patient, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Skills: Ability to assist with personal care tasks, mobility support, and meal preparation. Understanding of the emotional needs of clients and their families.


Flexibility: Must be willing to work full-time, providing the required care and support as needed.
